Buzz – Praise from my Clients

I have been fortunate to work with so many wonderful people, and they have been kind enough to recommend me and my work.  Here is what just some of them have to say:

“I have worked with Maya for many years in many different capacities. As a consultant, coach, executive admin, coordinator, and as senior director. As a senior non-profit leader, consultant, and coach, I’ve watched and benefitted from Maya’s transformative effect on an organization with insightful guidance on strategy and development, compassionate team and relationship building with staff and leaders, creative infrastructure design, and practical operations and administrative ideation and scaffolding born from her wealth of experience.

In my former role as Executive Director of the Southeastern African American Farmers Organic Network (SAAFON), Maya Jordan came in initially as a consultant to help us set up our internal administrative procedures and went on to become our Director of Operations and then a Co-Director of SAAFON as a whole.

Maya is a highly accomplished nonprofit professional – a strategic thinker, an experienced and dynamic planner, and someone who brings a broad view of organizational operations, administration, and strategy. Maya is essentially someone who can start at the 5,000-foot view with you – and work with a team then to plan an organizational journey from A to B at every scale, inch by inch and minute by minute, in order to achieve everything that was scoped out from a 5,000-foot altitude.

Maya’s increased responsibilities at SAAFON reflected both SAAFON’s needs and the talents she came in the door with. Several consultants who worked closely with Maya in her role as Director of Operations and Special Projects at SAAFON remarked on her professionalism and consummate skills in nonprofit operations, administration, and management. Remarking on an internal report Maya produced, one highly acclaimed consultant noted that it was the most thorough and balanced report on the subject he had seen, and as an expert in the specific topic of the report, verified Maya’s research and recommendations. And this was on an ad hoc project I asked Maya to lead, where she had some experience but needed to do further work to shore up her expertise.

In short, that example is characteristic of working with Ms. Jordan. She is both detail-oriented and adept at helping to develop the big picture. During our time together at SAAFON, she led the first internal job and structure assessment process, ending with SAAFON’s first departmental structure and new job descriptions for every staff member based on their skills and SAAFON’s needs. She juggled this task with numerous other ones as she helped to lay the operational and administrative basis for SAAFON’s next stage.

It is no exaggeration to say that every organization could use a Maya Jordan. Based on her clear, frank, and kind communication style, and deep and comprehensive expertise in nonprofit operations and management, I would highly recommend her to any organization in need of a consultant, planner, or senior operations and administrative professional. You will find few people more committed to helping an organization thrive in its mission and practices.” – M. Jahi Chappell, Ph.D., former Executive Director of SAAFON, and author of the Beginning to End Hunger

“Maya approaches her work with warmth, insight, and professionalism. Her background experience as a non-profit leader and operations professional lends itself to both her highly developed people and project management skills. Her attention to detail is like that of a watchmaker… seeing both the macro and micro when executing a project. We worked in a high-stress, fast-paced environment and she successfully managed multiple projects at the same time and always with a smile. When I needed her to hop in midstream to support me in executing a segment of an internal process guide, she didn’t hesitate. We worked with some tough clients and team members at DRG…but whether engaging with high-profile clients or a member of the team, she leads with compassion. She is a true asset.” – Rashidah White, previous Chief Operating Officer of DRG

“It’s been my good fortune to work alongside Maya over the past 7 years on several different projects with different companies. As a project manager and team member, I’ve seen her attention to detail and grace under pressure firsthand, wrangling personnel with a firm but earnestly pleasant skill that is rarely seen in the entertainment industry. She has a keen wit, a delightful sense of form/function. I look forward to our next project, unless some lucky company snags her for a permanent position first.” – Lars Lunde, Lundegaard Productions, New York

“Maya’s impressive organizational skills are augmented by what must be clairvoyant and empathic superpowers. She will anticipate needs her clients haven’t thought of, and she is the calm, sensible oasis during the chaos that develops at any public event.” – Rob Pivarnik, Entertainment Director, TerrifiCon

“Maya began working for me in June of 2008 as an executive administrator and then also as a project director and creative consultant …Maya has demonstrated an excellent work ethic and attitude. I’ve worked closely with assistants over the last 25 years and rank Maya as the very best.  I can endorse Maya as extraordinarily reliable and having the highest character. She would be a welcome addition to any venture.” – Herb Jordan, The Adage Group, Beverly Hills, CA

“Maya helped support my photography business for more than 2 years by taking on a multitude of tasks, always with a positive attitude and a can-do spirit. She began as an executive administrator and strategy consultant, handling client engagement, and events, and developing operational systems and processes. Her role then evolved into adding the additional roles of social media manager and operations and project coordinator. She was a trusted team member who I could rely on for thoughtful advice, a sense of humor, and an optimistic outlook – no matter the challenges. She helped weigh in on questions related to marketing, design, pricing, workflow, lead generation, client management, and more. She was a joy to work with and I highly recommend her.” – Leise Jones, Leise Jones Photography

“Without a doubt, Maya has been invaluable in helping our podcast reach a broader audience. She combines her creativity with impeccable organizational skills and we have benefitted from the results. Thanks to Maya we’ve been involved in some wonderful festivals and conventions and have had the privilege of gaining access to guest speakers that we never thought possible. Simply put, she upped our game.” – Loaded Dice Podcast

“I have used many virtual assistants over the years, but none were more dependable and capable than Maya. Her professionalism and attention to detail allowed me to trust her to handle administrative needs, which enabled me to concentrate on other aspects of my business. Beyond just administrative tasks, she was very creative and proactive in helping me with projects.”– Jarik Conrad, Conrad Consulting Group (CCG), Sprouted Bean Health Systems

“It is not an understatement to say that if it weren’t for Maya working, I would not have been able to navigate the past year of my life.  Whatever I needed her to do, from web design, video creation, gig booking, calendar management, shopping, social media management..practically my entire life – she did it all, and was always sweet, professional and so easy to work with.  I could actually breathe a sigh of relief and focus on my music knowing that Maya was taking care of things for me.” – Elaine. Romanelli, singer/songwriter

“As a busy professional in New York City, having a project manager that I know I can always rely on is a must, and Maya Jordan is not only someone I can rely on, I literally would not be able to do the work I do without her.” – Evan Cardona, SolCard Productions, NY, NY
